Ben McFarland has been named British Guild of Beer Writers’ Beer Writer of the Year on three separate occasions – the first time as the youngest ever recipient in 2004. A writer for Time Out, Guardian, The Telegraph and Jamie Oliver Magazine, Ben is also the author of two award-winning books on beer – “Good Beer Guide West Coast USA” (co-written with Tom Sandham) and “World’s Best Beers: 1000 Unmissable Brews from Portland to Prague”.
He was also a contributor to The Oxford Companion to Beer and his latest book, Boutique Beer, is due for publication in Autumn 2013 through Jacqui Small.
Along with Tom Sandham, Ben has founded www.thinkingdrinkers.com, a company offering editorial, drinks consultancy; staff training and corporate tutored tastings. Ben and Tom also perform “Thinking Drinker’s Guide to Alcohol”, a highly acclaimed piece of comedy theatre which is returning to the Edinburgh Festival for the third year running following a successful West End transfer.
